MarketingMel, a marketing, public relations and social media strategies firm based in Johnson City, Tenn. captured five awards at the Tri-Cities TN/VA Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America's annual awards dinner that was held April 5 in Kingsport. The firm won two "Awards of Excellence," the highest award given, for community relations on the Dan Eldridge campaign and for the creation of a Realtor's web site in Williamsville, New York, a suburb of Buffalo.
MarketingMel's public relations strategy for the successful Dan Eldridge campaign for Washington County Mayor involved a series of neighborhood gatherings throughout Johnson City. MarketingMel orchestrated the gatherings with a number of well known community leaders who offered up their homes for the events. MarketingMel took photos of the hosts with Dan and posted these along with party photos on the Elect Eldridge Facebook page which was fed to his twitter account. She also conducted video interviews which she posted to his Facebook and YouTube accounts. "This was a key way to build buzz for a candidate who had not previously served in elected office," says Mary Ellen Miller, President and CEO of MarketingMel. "I'm grateful for Dan Eldridge's confidence in MarketingMel. It was great to be recognized by the judges for the social media and P.R. combination."
"MarketingMel helped set the standard for all future county mayor races across the state of Tennessee," says Eldridge. "I believe the neighborhood gatherings, which involved getting to know people where they live, in their homes and neighborhoods, played a large role in the campaign's positive outcome. Futhermore, it has helped me in my new role as Mayor when I work with many of the same people."
MarketingMel took another "Award of Excellence," the P.R.S.A.'s top prize, for Kim Addelman and Ron Remollino's web site, http://villagehomesales.com. MarketingMel, in collaboration with Jeffery Moore created the eye-appealing site that features large, sliding photos of village of Williamsville landmarks such as its waterfalls, and homes that Addelman is showcasing. MarketingMel brought interactivity to the site in many ways including the addition of social networking, Kim's blog and homeseller tips. "MarketingMel helped me shape my branding strategy," says Addelman. "The web site is not only visually appealing but it's easy for me to maintain. I've gotten leads through the web site and social media channels MarketingMel created, that I never had before."
Other entries winning "Awards of Quality" were: Dan Eldridge party invitation, the MarketingMel web site (http://marketingmel.com) and the Elect Eldridge web site (http://www.electeldridge.com). Involved in the creation of those entries were: Theresa Bellamy and Pip Printing, Jeffery Moore and Tim McLeod.
